DECA succeeds again

On Jan. 9, students from W.T. Clarke High School competed in the DECA Regional Competition at Molloy College. Eleven students from Clarke were named top finalists, while three additional students earned honorable mention. The 14 students are eligible to compete in the New York State Career Conference in Rochester on March 9-11, with a chance to move onto the DECA International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Fla. on April 30 to May 3.

Teachers get grant

The Nassau Educators Federal Credit Union selected Marge Sweeny and Wendy Wansor, advisers of the student government club at W.T. Clarke Middle School, as grant recipients. The teacher grant program offers financial assistants wishing to supplement their regular curriculum with special projects.

Coca-Cola scholarship semifinalists

Christina Principato of Clarke and Colleen Wilkowski of East Meadow High School have been selected as semifinalists in the 2010-11 Coca-Cola Scholars Program, as a result of their outstanding leadership, academic achievements and dedication to the community. They are eligible to become finalists, with a chance to receive between $10,000 and $20,000 in awards. Finalists will be announced in February.
