Fire department vehicle stolen from doctor’s office parking lot

A fire department vehicle was stolen from a parking lot in East Meadow on Jan. 11 at 10:07 a.m., police said.

According to First Squad detectives, a man entered John Zaso’s Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine office at 611 Merrick Avenue and removed property, including car keys.

The suspect exited the office, got into the 47-year-old male victim’s vehicle and was seen driving southbound out of the parking lot. The vehicle is a New York State “Fly” car, which is used by fire departments, police said.


Detectives described the suspect as a five-foot, 10-inch tall black male in his late 30s or early 40s. He was wearing a black leather jacket, gray hooded shirt and blue jeans, they said.

The suspect was captured on video, which is being reviewed by investigators.
