Gridiron greats: East Meadow youth sharpen skills at football camp

Footballs were flying last week in Salisbury, as youth athletes took to the field for a fun-filled, informative camp.

In a display of community spirit and mentorship, high school football players from East Meadow High School and W.T. Clarke High School joined forces to help run the camp with the East Meadow Police Activity League for young athletes. This initiative aimed to foster a love for the sport, instill discipline, and promote teamwork among the youth participants.

The camp, which took place over a series of five days at the East Meadow School District’s headquarters in Salisbury, ended on July 31. It allowed high school athletes to dedicate their time and skills to coach and mentor the younger players.

Participating campers got to take part in many drills that tested their football skills, some which they may have known going into the camp, and others they learned during it.

The camp was a collaborative effort that provided a platform for athletic development ahead of the upcoming season, while also strengthening community bonds in East Meadow.
