The Crimes Against Property Squad said it arrested a Brooklyn and a Connecticut man for attempting to pass counterfeit bills on Aug. 23 in Levittown.

According to detectives, at the time of his arrest, at 3:56 p.m. on Twig Lane, Levittown, defendant Shawn B. Harewood, age 25, of West Haven, Conn., was in possession of a bag containing 20 counterfeit $100 bills. Earlier in the day, between 3:15 and 3:40 p.m., police said defendant Eric Smith, age 19, of Brooklyn, attempted purchases of dog food, a greeting card and cupcakes at three different stores on Newbridge Road, before he was spotted by a storeowner who had accepted one of the forged bills earlier in the day and who notified police.

Police said the defendants, who allegedly acted in concert, were each charged with three counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument (C Felony) and were scheduled for arraignment in First District Court on Tuesday.
