Nassau County teens compete in Reach for the Stars

The Nassau County teen talent search, “Reach for the Stars,” is holding its finals July 30 at 7:30 at the Lakeside Theatre. The competition will display the talents of 25 vocalists between the ages of 13 and 19, all residents of Nassau County.

Sixty-four teenagers auditioned July 7 to move on to the finals where, according to the Town of Hempstead, ‘a prestigious panel of judges, including professionals in the music and entertainment industry” will choose the best teen solo vocalist. The competition appears to be popular for young people trying to break into the industry; two winners from past Reach for the Stars competitions moved on to become American Idol finalists – Kevin Covais in 2003, Idol season 5, and Robbie Rosen in 2009, season 10.
