East Meadow H.S. senior plays with All-Eastern Wind Ensemble

Marc Kabigting, a senior clarinetist from East Meadow High School, performed with the All-Eastern Wind Ensemble in a concert held at Morgan State University on April 3.  

The Wind Ensemble, one of three Honors Ensembles, was a part of the Eastern Division Conference sponsored by the Maryland Music Educators Association, held in Baltimore, Maryland. Students from thirteen states were selected for this honor. Jordan Fried, also of East Meadow High School, was chosen as an alternate for the All-Eastern Jazz Band.

Clarke cellist featured on NPR 

Cellist Taeguk Mun, a student at W.T. Clarke High School, was featured on the nationally syndicated radio program “From the Top” on National Public Radio (NPR). Taeguk performed “Pezzo Capriccioso, Opus 62” by Tchaikovsky and was accompanied by the program’s host, Christopher O’ Riley. 

In addition to his performance, Taeguk was interviewed about his daily experiences and the role of music in his life. “From the Top” is heard by approximately 750,000 listeners weekly and features talented young musicians from throughout the United States. Taeguk’s performance can be heard on the NPR website at www.npr.org, as well as via podcast.
