Lynbrook firefighters extinguished a backyard barbecue kitchen fire on Russell Street late on June 30, preventing the flames from spreading beyond the outdoor cooking area.

According to Lynbrook Fire Department spokesman Steve Grogan, the fire damaged the outdoor kitchen and an exterior kitchen wall before members of Vulcan Company brought it under control with a single hose line.

The department operated under the command of Second Assistant Chief Phil Tkacz. Firefighters remained on scene for about 30 minutes before clearing the incident.

No injuries were reported.
