School spirit filled the Lynbrook High School gymnasium on March 3 as the district’s Challenger team faced off against Valley Stream South Middle School during a special homecoming game.
Players from Lynbrook’s special education program were met with enthusiastic support from classmates, teachers and community members who packed the stands to cheer them on. Throughout the game, the athletes showed determination, teamwork and strong sportsmanship while making sure every player had a chance to participate on the court.
The positive and energetic atmosphere reflected the district’s commitment to inclusion and its goal of providing meaningful opportunities for all students to take part in school activities.
“This homecoming game meant so much to our students,” said special education teacher Bryton LaMantia. “Playing on the high school court and hearing the crowd cheer them on gave them a real sense of pride and belonging. Moments like this remind our students that their hard work matters and that they are an important part of our school community.”
