Nearly 430 Elmont School District scholars in pre-K through fifth grade participated in the district's free Summer Academic and Enrichment Program from July 1-23, combining academics with hands-on enrichment to prepare for the upcoming school year. Scholars engaged in lessons in English language arts, math, science and social-emotional learning while taking part in project-based activities, STEAM challenges, coding, robotics, drone piloting and art. The program also included themed spirit days, field trips and a Mad Science presentation. It concluded with a July 22 Summer Showcase and Art Exhibit highlighting student projects. The program was led by co-principals Rita Johnson and Samantha Magaraci.
