The Blue team defeated the Gold squad 89 to 82 at the 52nd annual Lawrence High School Sports Night competition in the gymnasium on March 22. Seniors Shelby Applebaum and Rachel Golan captained the Gold team and Samantha Speziale and Dina Goldstein led the Blue team. This year’s theme was Gold “present” versus Blue “past.” The more than 2,540 raised benefits the Lois Dickstein Scholarship, which provides financial awards to local female athletes. Sports Night is a tribute to Dickstein, a Lawrence High cheerleader, who died as the result of a car accident 53 years ago. The event was not held last year. The high school was closed due to Hurricane Sandy damage.
