Mostly Cloudy Fire in Lynbrook on Merrick Road displaces 28 people

The Dec. 18 fire in Lynbrook on Merrick Road near Vincent Avenue displaced 28 people, including 13 children.
To counteract the bad, the Lynbrook Police Benevolent Association is holding a fundraiser for the families on Dec . 20 at the Craft Kitchen and Tap House, at 44 Stauderman Ave., in Lynbrook from 5 to 8 p.m.
The fire broke out on Monday afternoon, a blaze that officials described as significant, and required the response of multiple fire departments for mutual aid. The Lynbrook Police department was also present at the scene. The fire was contained.
In the holiday spirit of giving back, the Lynbrook School District is collecting gift cards for the families atthe main offices of its schools and at the district office on Atlantic Avenue.
