Congressman Anthony D’Esposito has announced a significant win for his district, securing over $5.4 million in community project funding as part of the latest federal spending package. The funding is earmarked for vital infrastructure projects, including the construction of a new Emergency Operations Center in the Village of Freeport and the West End Recharge Basin project in the Village of Floral Park.

D’Esposito has secured $1.35 million in Federal Emergency Management Community Project Funding for the creation of an Emergency Operations Center in the Village of Freeport. The center will serve as a critical hub for coordinating emergency response efforts, enhancing the village’s ability to handle diverse crises effectively.

A significant portion of the funding, $4.05 million, has been allocated to support the construction of the West End Recharge Basin project in the Village of Floral Park. This project aims to mitigate flooding risks in vulnerable areas of the village, particularly on the west end, by upgrading the existing recharge basin to handle higher rainfall volumes.

D’Esposito expressed pride in securing these funds, emphasizing their importance in enhancing community resilience and providing resources for first responders. With over $20 million secured in recent federal support for community projects, D’Esposito reaffirms his commitment to improving the quality of life for Long Islanders through strategic partnerships with local authorities.
