Cheryl Wills and John Singleton Jr. recently celebrated 30 loving years of marriage together with the village and various high-profile attendees. They additionally celebrated their combined 60th birthdays.
Village of Freeport Mayor Robert Kennedy joined locals, family members, elected officials and other dignitaries in celebrating the couple’s decades of love and community involvement in Freeport as residents.
“It is a pleasure to honor Cheryl and John, residents who continually give back to Freeport, and we wish them many more birthdays together,” Kennedy said.
Together, Wills and Singleton have been a part of community projects that help mentor and work with students.
In addition to the successes they have had together as a couple, the pair have accomplished significant individual career prominence as well. Wills is an Emmy award-winning news anchor for Spectrum NY1 News, and Singleton is the principal of the Clear Stream Avenue Elementary School in Valley Stream’s District 30 school district.
Other attendees included New York State Assemblyman Noah Burroughs, Freeport Chamber of Commerce President Benjamin Jackson, Village of Hempstead Mayor Waylyn Hobbs Jr. and Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé.
The afternoon was capped off by a performance by rap star Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels of the popular hip hop group RUN D.M.C.
