Freeport's music education program earns top honor in the country

Freeport Public Schools has been recognized as one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM). This is the ninth consecutive year that Freeport schools has received this national distinction.

This honor acknowledges the district’s ongoing commitment to providing all students with access to a comprehensive and high-quality music education. Across the district, students benefit from a dynamic and inclusive music program that begins in general music classrooms and extends to advanced performance opportunities.

Freeport students are regularly selected for All-County and All-State festivals, while specialized offerings highlight the district’s innovative approach to music education. The district also features stage productions, further showcasing the talent, dedication and creativity of its students and staff.

The NAMM Foundation’s designation is awarded to school districts that demonstrate excellence in curriculum, participation, community involvement, and support for music programs. Freeport’s continued recognition for nearly a decade is a direct result of the dedication and expertise of its music educators, who play a vital role in fostering creativity and artistic growth in every student.
