Harmony Healthcare Long Island, a Roosevelt-based health clinic, was joined by Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé in celebration of National Health Center Week.
On Tuesday, Aug. 11, Mulé attended a free health fair featuring informational tables for residents, as well as activities for children, music, ice cream and more.
“For families in District Six and across Long Island, Harmony Healthcare serves as a vital link to the medical care and preventative resources that empower families to live healthier and more fulfilling lives,” Mulé said. “I am thankful to them for their partnership throughout the year, and it was a pleasure to join them for their National Health Center Week celebration.”
According to the National Association of Community Health Centers, National Health Center Week was officially observed across the nation from Aug. 2 to 8. The national event is intended to increase awareness of the over 1,500 community health centers across the U.S. and to highlight opportunities for further support from the public.
This year’s theme, “Building Innovative Care Where It Matters Most,” was intended to celebrate how community health centers use creativity and commitment to advance innovative solutions, according to the National Health Center Week website.
Various national and local stakeholders, sponsors and elected officials partnered with local centers, similar to Harmony Healthcare, to strengthen community relationships and further patient-centered care.
