At around 6:33 p.m. on March 19, the Roosevelt Fire Department responded to a two-story home on Pennsylvania Avenue in Roosevelt that had caught on fire. The fire was put out within 30 minutes and no injuries to residents or anyone else were reported.
Approximately 60 firefighters were on the scene, including first responders from the Freeport, Uniondale, Baldwin and North Merrick fire departments in addition to Roosevelt.
The American Red Cross was notified to assist five adults, one child, two dogs and a cat that were displaced as a result of the fire.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown and being investigated by the Nassau County Fire Marshal and Police Arson/Bomb Squad, according to Bohdan Pilczak, assistant chief fire marshal of Nassau County. The fire has been deemed non-suspicious by local authorities.
