Rockville Centre native Timothy (Tim) William Cuff died on Feb. 4 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was 61.

Cuff was born on Nov. 16, 1960, in Rockville Centre. He spent his early life on Long Island before moving to Flint, Mich. to attend GMI Engineering & Management Institute, now Kettering University, where he graduated in 1983 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.

Upon graduating, Cuff moved to Buffalo, where he worked at the GM Tonawanda Forge. In 1987 he moved to Columbus, Ohio to begin work at Battelle Memorial Institute. He stayed at Battelle until 2009, when he moved to Weldon, a division of Akron Brass, where he remained until his death.

Cuff was a wildlife enthusiast and avid photographer. He often took trips around the country, frequently with his son, Brian, to national parks and had a goal of visiting every national park. While in Columbus, Cuff photographed birds. All of his many pictures can be found on his Flickr account. Cuff was also fond of woodworking.

In addition to his son, Brian Grzybowski-Cuff, Cuff is survived by his brother, John Cuff, and his sister, Maryanne McAuley.

A public visitation will be held at Spring Hollow Lodge, at Sharon Woods Metro Park in Westerville Ohio on Feb. 20 from 1 to 4 p.m. A private funeral will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, consider donating to the National Park Service, specifically Yellowstone National Park.
