The Long Island Nets (2-0), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, defeated the Greensboro Swarm (0-1), 91-83 on Saturday evening, Nov. 11, at Nassau Coliseum.
While on assignment with Long Island, Brooklyn forward/center Noah Clowney posted a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds in addition to one assist and one block in 34 minutes. Long Island guard Keifer Sykes tallied 12 points, two rebounds, one assist and one block in 25 minutes. Brooklyn two-way guard Armoni Brooks added nine points, six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal in 34 minutes. Additionally, Brooklyn two-way forward Jalen Wilson notched nine points, five rebounds, two assists and one block in 23 minutes.
The Swarm jumped out to a quick lead, as they went on a 7-0 run against Long Island in the opening four minutes of the first quarter. Greensboro’s offensive momentum remained steady, and they closed the first period ahead by nine, 25-16. Despite the Nets shooting 52.4 percent from the field and outscoring the Swarm 29-26 in the second quarter, Long Island could not turn the tides. Greensboro kept its lead and went into halftime ahead by six, 51-45.
Long Island continued to chase the Swarm in the third quarter, outscoring Greensboro 24-16 in the quarter. The Nets took the lead and closed the period ahead by two, 69-67. Long Island maintained its steady effort in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Swarm 22-16 in the period. The Nets went on to defeat Greensboro by eight, 91-83.
Greensboro guard Terrell Brown Jr. posted 19 points, eight rebounds and three assists in 35 minutes. Swarm guard R.J. Hunter tallied 15 points, five rebounds, three steals, two blocks and one assist in 30 minutes. Greensboro center Nathan Mensah added 14 points, five rebounds and two blocks in 28 minutes.
