Students at Lynbrook South Middle School donned ten-gallon hats and cowboy boots to present a show-stopping performance of the Rogers and Hammerstein musical “Oklahoma!”
These young thespians made the story of cowboy Curly McLain and his romance with farm girl Laurey Williams come alive with their renditions of classic tunes such as “Oh What a Beautiful Morning,” “The Surrey with the Fringe on Top,” and “People Will Say We’re in Love.”

After winning First Place Grand and Best in Category prizes at the Long Island Science and Engineering Fair, Lynbrook High School Senior Josh Lewin-Jacus, has earned the right to compete at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, recognized as the premier science competition in the world for students in grades 9-12. Fellow senior Andrew Akcelik received an Honorable Mention award.

Parents of students who attend certain private schools outside of Lynbrook and East Rockaway are upset about the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s plans to cut two of their bus routes — the N65 and N66 — which would force some of their children to be rerouted through the Hempstead bus terminal to get to school.

A sunny day greeted the hundreds of runners and walkers for the annual Building Homes for Heroes 5K Run/Walk held at Hewlett Point Beach Park last Sunday.
The overall winner in the men’s division was Dan McGrath, of Lynbrook, with a time of 15:36. The overall women’s winner was Jayne Paskoff, of Lynbrook, with a time of 21:07.
