In a high school auditorium, you usually find groups of bustling adolescents sitting in the rows, but on Monday, parents gathered in the Lynbrook High School auditorium to voice their frustrations about what they describe as illegal activity among local youth. Lynbrook and East Rockaway officials, along with members of the Nassau County Police Department’s 4th Precinct, were in the hot seat as many residents complained about disruptive youth who, they said, hang out, drink and cause mischief near Waverly Avenue. more
Lynbrook police arrested Robert King, 19, of Tredwell Avenue in Lynbrook, in connection with the robbery of a stationery store in Lynbrook on Aug. 26. The robber was described as wearing a pink jumpsuit and a blond wig and carrying an off-white woman’s handbag. Police say the store clerk noticed the man’s dark hair underneath the wig. more

The Lynbrook village board recently met with Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials in the hope of revitalizing a group of vacant storefronts underneath the railroad tracks on Atlantic Avenue. The properties, which are owned by the MTA, were long ago deemed in need of improvement by the village. more
