Two local women were awarded Small Businessperson of the Year during the Nassau Council of Chambers 27th Annual Legislative Breakfast held on October 7 at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.

Jeanie’s dream was to own her own bakery. As a single mom of three, Jeanie began by baking cookies, cakes, breads and pies from her kitchen.
As a resident and active member of the Village of Lynbrook, Astoria Federal Savings Branch Manager Denise Rogers is committed to serving her customers and strengthening the community.
Since joining Astoria Federal Savings in 1994 as a part-time teller, Denise has built a rewarding career in banking. Today, she is an accomplished branch manager and leads her team in delivering unmatched, personal service. She champions Astoria Federal’s Education First initiatives and recently visited Lynbrook School District’s elementary schools to teach children the importance of saving money. She plays an active role in the Lynbrook Chamber, becoming vice president of membership, and most recently, executive vice president, assisting the president and the Chamber in all it endeavors. She also supports the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, and the Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation. With the Support of her family and branch team, Denise shares her time and talents to help make Lynbrook a special place.
