Four arrested in Lynbrook kidnapping

Four people were arrested and charged with kidnapping and robbery after forcing a man who was standing outside the Lynbrook Express Food Mart into a car at gunpoint on Oct. 4 and assaulting and robbing him on Oct. 4, according to Lynbrook police.

At 10:13 that night, the victim, who was standing outside the market, at 1710 Rockaway Ave., with four friends, saw a man driving past him, police said, and recognized the man as Malik A. Crowl, 23, of Inwood, with whom the victim had had a previous altercation. The victim asked one of his friends to call the police.

Crowl stopped the car, got out and approached the victim and, acting in concert with Randy U. Scott, 19, and Stamey Holland, 20, both of Inwood, and Kortney Kahn, 19, of Long Beach, forced the man into a BMW with a North Carolina registration and license plates.

According to police, Scott produced a handgun and pointed it at the victim, who was forced into the rear seat of the car. The vehicle then headed west on Rockaway Avenue into Valley Stream.

While in the car, the victim was assaulted and robbed by Scott, Holland and Kahn while Crowl drove, police said. At 10:28 p.m., the vehicle was pulled over by Nassau County police at Mill Road and Roosevelt Street in Valley Stream, and the suspects were arrested. A Colt 9 mm handgun was recovered on Roosevelt Street, having been thrown out of the BMW’s passenger window.

Crowl and Scott were charged with kidnapping, robbery, attempted robbery and possession of a weapon. Holland was charged with two counts of kidnapping, robbery and criminal contempt, and Kahn was charged with two counts of kidnapping, robbery and false personation.
