Lynbrook assists at Valley Stream fire

Posted

Lynbrook firefighters from Truck Company and the Emergency Medical Company assisted the Valley Stream Fire Department at a major fire on West Merrick Road at Shaw Avenue on the evening of August 8.  Eight other nearby volunteer fire departments also responded.

Just before 11 p.m. that night, fire was blowing out the front window of a dry cleaners store and quickly spread to three other adjoining stores. It took over an hour to control the fire, and firefighters were at the scene till early the next morning.

Lynbrook’s Emergency Medical Company transported one Valley Stream firefighter to the hospital, while Truck Company which first responded as a “fast team,” later helped with the overhaul of the fire damaged stores.
