East Rockaway Junior-Senior High School hosted the fifth annual Jack D. Butler Memorial Scholarship basketball game on May 5, in memory of a late alumnus from the school district.
More than 70 of Butler’s family and friends, and other basketball lovers, gathered for a day of hoops, laughs and memories in the gymnasium.
Money was raised at the event to help support a scholarship in Butler’s memory, which will be awarded to a worthy senior from the high school.
“The day was terrific,” said Joe Lores, former long time East Rockaway boys’ basketball coach. “Lots of fun, basketball and memories of Jack.”
