The Malverne Community Theatre brought Shakespeare back to Crossroads Farm at Grossmann’s with performances of the comedy Much Ado About Nothing from July 9 to 11, continuing the company’s annual “Shakespeare at the Farm” tradition.
Now in its fifth year, the outdoor production transformed the farm into an open-air stage, reflecting the way Shakespeare’s plays were originally performed before audiences centuries ago. Under the direction of David Coonan, the company presented one of the playwright’s best-known comedies following last summer’s production of Julius Caesar.
The Malverne Community Theatre, which was revived by Coonan in 2012, has made the annual Shakespeare performances a summertime tradition, bringing together local actors, volunteers and theater enthusiasts for community productions in a unique outdoor setting.
