Sunday update: Town opens relief centers

Hempstead Town Supervisor announced on Sunday morning at 9:20 that she is “getting reports of 65 trees down in the town, and a number of roads closed.”
She said that 300,000 people are without power in the town, and that the town has set up 10 relief centers that will be open until 9 o’clock tonight.
She advised people NOT to go to those centers now, but to wait until it is safer to move around after the winds calm down.
“I am glad that our residents are taking the storms seriously and that helps our emergency workers do their jobs,” Murray said Sunday morning
