Armed robber holds up Fast Break
A man armed with a handgun held up the Fast Break food store at 1066 Merrick Ave. in North Merrick at 12:18 a.m. on Wednesday, according to police.
The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash from the cashier and then ran off northbound toward Williams Street.
Police believe it was the second robbery the man committed within an hour of each other. The first, they said, occurred at the Dunkin Donuts at 120 Old Country Road in Mineola at 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday. In that incident, he approached the cashier, demanded cash and then ran off with the night’s receipts.
No injuries were reported.
The suspect was described as a black male, thin, with a black ski mask, brown jacket and black sneakers. Police ask anyone with information about these crimes to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
