Each October, Merrick’s neighborhoods come alive with color, creativity, and a touch of fright as homeowners transform their properties into glowing showcases of Halloween spirit. They include family-friendly inflatables and haunted lawns to clever, themed displays and charity tie-ins.

The epic display at a home on Yale Place glows with Halloween cheer, featuring a walkway packed with glowing pumpkins, ghosts, and colorful characters. The vibrant display is filled with animated figures, spooky lights, and handmade decorations that turn the yard into a festive, family-friendly spectacle. Visitors are also encouraged to support Bobbi and the Strays, a local animal rescue nonprofit.

A Hendrickson Avenue house transforms into a glowing Halloween spectacle each night, with purple and orange lights illuminating towering skeletons, jack-o’-lanterns, aliens, and animatronic ghouls. Featuring a massive Jack Skellington and eerie neon creatures, the display mixes playful creativity with classic fright — all while raising funds for Ramona’s Gift to Music.

The owner of a home on Woodbine Avenue gave the holiday a sporty spin with a soccer-themed display lit in purple and orange. Skeleton players face off under goal nets, with giant skeletons towering beside a golden trophy centerpiece. One skeleton sports a red-and-black Merrick soccer jersey.

There’s a glow of Halloween charm at a home on Lincoln Boulevard packed with towering inflatables of classic monsters, aliens, and ghosts that fill the entire front yard. A green Frankenstein, Jack Skellington, and Oogie Boogie loom large among glowing pumpkins and playful figures, all lit by a mix of purple and green lights. Adding a humorous touch is a witch holds a bright yellow sign reading “I Smell Children.”

The scene at a home on Decker Avenue offers a clever mix of humor and haunt with its glowing Halloween display. The yard features towering inflatables, ghostly figures, and purple-lit trees that frame a pathway of handmade gravestones — each etched with witty “rest in peace” tributes. Among them are playful digs at the Jeff Wilpon ownership era of the Mets and the end of the New England Patriots dynasty.

A house on Amsterdam Avenue features a towering ghost with on-and-off glowing red eyes as its centerpiece. Surrounded by cheerful jack-o’-lantern inflatables, a tall witch inflatable, and a web of purple lights stretching across the lawn, the display strikes a perfect balance between spooky and fun.

Finally, a house on Chapin Avenue shines in a deep purple glow, creating an elegant yet eerie Halloween atmosphere. The front porch is lined with life-sized figures dressed in vintage costumes, while glowing webs with crawling spiders stretch across the lawn. Nearby, a towering green-lit ghost looms over the display, adding a dramatic, otherworldly touch.
