Pumpkins and prizes: North Merrick Public Library’s first-ever outdoor ‘Spooky Walk’

Posted

The spooky Halloween spirit took hold of Merrick last Thursday evening at the North Merrick Public Library’s Spooky Walk. Kids came in their best costumes to enjoy the treats and activities.

Neighbors from local communities gathered at the library for the fun — and safe — Halloween event.

Pumpkins carved by the community lined the walkway for neighbors to admire, followed by the all ages carved pumpkin contest.

For those lucky enough to win best pumpkins, prizes were awarded for all their hard work.

Top pumpkins won awards for “funniest”, “spookiest”, and “book-related” carvings.

Even Jack Skellington and Sally, characters from The Nightmare Before Christmas, were in attendance for a meet and greet.
