Sweet sounds of Handel at Merrick church
The Merrick Chorale recently appeared at the Community Presbyterian Church in Merrick.
The Chorale, led by Director Richard Gilley, performed George F. Handel’s “Joshua Oratorio,” and was accompanied by a select group of symphony orchestra players and widely acclaimed soloists in soprano, alto, tenor and bass parts.
2011 marks the 30th year that the Merrick Chorale has provided musical entertainment to the Bellmore-Merrick community.
The orchestra at this most recent performance included Marni Harris and Jill Kohn on violin; Rita Gilley on viola; Suanne Stein and Barbara Cohen on oboe; Donna Muncil on bassoon; Danielle Guideri on cello; Kajecki Nagao on bass; and Herbert Bradensten on piano.
Choral soloists were Janice Weir, Hanne Andreasen, Brian Donohue and Ron Meixsell.
