DeNapoli lifts

A week after knocking Plainedge from the ranks of the unbeaten, Hewlett rallied from a 14-point halftime deficit to pull even with undefeated
But as they have so many times this year, the Owls dug deep and made big plays when it mattered most. Senior quarterback Tom DeNapoli busted up the middle for a 31-yard touchdown run with 4:32 left to put them ahead for good in a 28-14 road win over the Bulldogs.
DeNapoli rushed for 231 yards and scored all four touchdowns for first-place
Mepham rolls to third straight win
By STEVE SINISKI
By the time Valley Stream Central knew what was happening, it was too late to recover.
After Mepham senior Kaalen Jackson scored in the first quarter of Saturday’s 47-7 Conference II win, he scooped up a fumble forced by senior Matt Palmer on the ensuing kickoff and raced into the end zone. Offensively,
“This was a great team win,” Mepham coach Anthony Cracco said. “Everyone contributed, and we did a great job up front on the offensive and defensive lines.”
Clarke rallies with late touchdown
By ANDREW McCLURE
Quarterback Mike Martiello and John Radice hooked up on a 35-yard touchdown pass with 2:28 left to give Clarke a 6-3 Conference IV win at Malverne on Saturday. Martiello, a sophomore, was 6-of-11 passing for 131 yards on the afternoon.
The game was scoreless through three quarters. Malverne broke on top when junior Corey Alexander kicked a 36-yard field goal early in the fourth. The Mules appeared to have the game in hand, but a questionable holding call on third-and-one negated a quarterback sneak by senior Brandon Michaels which would have given Malverne a first down. The Mules (2-4) were forced to punt.
Senior John Chodkowski quickly put the Rams (2-4) in striking distance with a 21-yard scamper down the left sideline. Martiello then hit Radice over the middle, and the senior went the final 20 yards untouched for the winning score.
