While the state’s election districts were recently redrawn — gerrymandered — by a progressive-Democratic majority in the State Legislature for the purpose of favoring their party, gerrymandering is not a particularly new political weapon.

The map of the U.S. on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Covid-19 transmission map showed a brilliant red encompassing the entire country, indicating a high rate of transmission, regardless of how region has dealt with mask mandates. The CDC’s site also shows a decrease in cases over the last 30 days and an increase in deaths during that same time.

Oceanside and Island Park, along with the rest of Long Island, were hit with heavy snowfall and high winds on Saturday morning. Snow is expected to accumulate to between 8 and 11 inches with wind gusting at 45 mph. A winter storm warning from the National Weather Service is in effect until 7 p.m. Saturday night.
