New Jersey man arrested for drugs, gun parts and uniforms in Oceanside

Along with the substances considered to be cocaine, heroin, methadone and dextroamphetamine, and weapons Joseph Zuziela allegedly had on his possession, the New Jersey resident was also found to illegally have public safety uniforms.

After stopping Zuziela, 43, near Merrick and Oceanside roads in Oceanside at 11:45 p.m. on Aug. 8, Nassau police found handcuffs, a gold badge, and multiple police uniforms, and a metal baton, metal knuckles, metal knuckle knives, counterfeit money, miscellaneous gun parts and ammunition.

Zuziela, 43, of N Branch River Road also has an open warrant from Somerset County, also in New Jersey.

He is charged with five counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a weapon and an Arrest Warrant: Fugitive from Justice.

The Nassau County Police Department requests anyone who thinks they may have been a victim of Zuziela, or may have had interactions with him to call Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 244-8477 or call 911. All calls are confidential.

His next court date is Aug. 13. Zuziela, who pleaded not guilty, was released with no bail, is represented by the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County.
