Trucks are lined up across from South Nassau Communities Hospital, one of many staging areas in Nassau County for emergency vehicles.

After Hurricane Sandy the Nassau County, the Town of Hempstead and other municipalities had trouble moving equipment to areas where it was needed. After numerous meetings with emergency officials from all the local municipalities, they agreed to grant each other staging areas, in the flood plain, so the equipment would be could be moved in before a storm and be available in an emergency.

Hermine hangs on

The National Weather Service says Post Tropical Storm Hermine continues to churn in the Atlantic off the coast of Long Island, bringing stronger winds to Suffolk, a moderate breeze to Nassau and the potential for rain during the week.

Hermine is still 120 miles southeast on Montauk, with 65 mile an hour winds. The coastal waters are still rough with dangerous rip tides. Coastal erosion is still a possibility as the storm moves west northwest at nine miles and hour.

There are no watches or warnings for Nassau County.
