Families and Town of Oyster Bay residents came together in downtown Oyster Bay for the annual Oyster Bay Day street fair on Saturday. Organized by the town and the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Chamber of Commerce, the event featured vendors, live music and children’s activities.
Among the vendors were members of the chamber of commerce as well as other local businesses. Clothing, purses, soap, honey, handmade items, children’s toys and cigars were some of the items for sale. Several booths offered attendees information and materials related to health and fitness.
Several food trucks and stands offered a variety of options like seafood, roasted corn, artisan pickles and fried food. The event ran from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a band taking the stage at around 2 p.m.
Oyster Bay resident Martin Gerdes, originally from Texas, said music is something he enjoys about the fair.
“I like live music,” he said. “We could have more live music here.”
Gerdes, who attends other events in Oyster Bay, such as Oyster Fest, said the hamlet has become “foody” with many restaurants and described it as “a great place to raise children.”
The street fair included an area dedicated to inflatables and children’s games. Many people also brought their dogs along for the day.
