Lawrence School District budget passes and a new trustee was elected

Lawrence School District's  $104.5 million budget for the  2025-2026  school year was passed, with 1, 698 votes. 

The budget shows a 2.55 percent spending increase from the current budget at $101.99 million.

The larger increases were seen in salaries at $1 million, half a million for building maintenance, $300,000 for aides, $250,000 in legal expenses, $150,000 for security and $100,000 for textbooks. Overall the transportation budget is now $11.5 million

Tova Rosenfeld was elected as a first-time Trustee with 1,399 votes, beating incumbent Michael Hatten. 

Joining her are incumbents Tova Plaut with 2,143 votes  and Dr. David Sussman with 1,916 votes. 

The $3.49 million budget for the Pensinsula Public Library  was passed, with 1,805 votes. 

The new library trustee is Rochelle Genack, she won with 1,182 votes.
