The Seaford boys’ soccer team has reached the playoff stage four years in a row and in 2014 will be looking to take that next step closer to competing for a county championship.

A $2.5 million building materials lab could be built near the Cedar Creek Waste Water Treatment Plant in Seaford to test nontoxic materials used in Nassau County road projects. Cedar Creek is one of two possible sites. Cantiague Park in Hicksville is also under consideration.

New York state recently released teacher evaluation results for the 2012-13 school year, and the numbers showed that a vast majority of educators in Wantagh, Seaford and Levittown are doing a good job.

For the third straight year, Seaford High School has been named a Reward School by the New York State Department of Education. The announcement was made by Superintendent Brian Conboy at the Board of Education meeting on Sept. 4.

Residents of northern Seaford will soon be ensured safe drinking water, even as a toxic underground plume from the former Grumman property in Bethpage moves south. Those residents could be saddled with extra costs for that clean water, however, if the Navy doesn’t come through with a $5 million payment owed to the South Farmingdale Water District.
