“There are different types of volunteers,” said Brain Levy of Temple B’nai Torah in Wantagh. “There are the type that bring up ideas and say we should do something, but never go about doing it. Then there are people that actually go out and volunteer. Harvey and Rita Drucker are those type of people.”

Maybe it was the “lucky” watch that kept Wantagh resident Michael Padula alive in Vietnam. Padula — a member of the 3rd Battalion, 26th Marines, served in Vietnam from 1966-69. The watch had been passed down from one family member to another.

For 40 years, residents of Wantagh and beyond have had the opportunity to do some early holiday shopping at the Church of St. Jude Country Fair. Last Saturday’s event did not disappoint, as shoppers left with bags full of holiday decorations, gifts, knick knacks and even fresh produce.

The Wantagh Kiwanis Club had a fruitful year. The club secured a grant to assist in the construction of new playground at the Mandalay Elementary School, sent three children to Kamp Kiwanis, and sponsored the creation of a new Kiwanis chapter in Seaford.
