In 1996, a young Will Skudin experienced the biggest waves he had ever seen. Hurricane Edouard had made its way to Long Beach, and the 11-year-old was just trying to keep up with his two older brothers. Herald Community Newspapers took home 13 honors in the New York Press Association’s 2015 Better Newspaper Contest, which attracted more than 2,800 entries from 177 weekly and daily newspapers across the state. Awards were announced at NYPA’s annual convention in upstate Saratoga Springs on April 8 and 9. more
