The Fishbin family, of Port Washington, and the Seaman family, of Merrick, have known each other since their sons attended sleepaway summer camp together many years ago. Now they are joining together for the benefit of two organizations that are dear to their hearts: Rock and Wrap it Up! and Music Never Stops: The Tyler Seaman Foundation. On March 27, a concert at City Winery in downtown Manhattan will raise money for both organizations.

The 27th annual Bellmore Family Street Festival is set to begin on Thursday, Sept. 19. The carnival begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and will run from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The street fair, which annually attracts more than 100,000 visitors, will start on Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. Live bands will play Friday night, festival coordinator Martha Verdi said.

Despite losing one night to rain, organizers of Blessed Sacrament Church’s Family Festival say the third annual event was a success. The festival, which featured rides, games, entertainment, food and more, was held last Friday through Sunday along McKeon Avenue and in the church parking lot.
