Greis Park in Lynbrook was the place to be last Saturday for the annual Lynbrook Expo, which also served as the village’s official kick off of its centennial celebration. To commemorate the International Day of Peace, students at Lynbrook’s Waverly Park School participated in an act of art activism called Pinwheels for Peace. Every student in the school created a pinwheel, decorated with their own personal message of peace. The entire student body, who gathered around the peace pole outside of their school, placed the pinwheels around the perimeter of the lawn to create a visual statement of their commitment to the ideals of peace. more

Jaclyn Stamile’s Girl Scout Gold Award Project got off to a great start at the Lynbrook Recreation Center on Sept. 11 when dozens of residents showed up to design and paint their own tile for the mosaic that will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Village of Lynbrook. “I came to be part of the patchwork,” said one elementary school student. “I’m going to draw my school on my tile.” more
