The Lynbrook village board recently met with Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials in the hope of revitalizing a group of vacant storefronts underneath the railroad tracks on Atlantic Avenue. The properties, which are owned by the MTA, were long ago deemed in need of improvement by the village.

Many Lynbrook community members woke up early on Aug. 14 with the roosters to attend a swimming event hosted by Swim Across America, where people were “making waves to fight cancer.” Swimmers donated their time, energy and effort for a life-saving cause.

Andrew and Kathleen Canle of Lynbrook dedicated a bench at North Shore Animal League America’s Port Washington adoption headquarters as a tribute to their dogs, Tarzan, Shane, Luke and Bowie — the latter two of which were both adopted from the Animal League.

Look out Lynbrook, for your very own swim team just showed off their swimming muscle with a win by 2 points over Manorhaven at the Nassau County Swim Division 2 Championship Meet on last Thursday at Nassau County Aquatic Center.

Visibly upset residents brought drug paraphernalia to Lynbrook Village Hall. They brought photos of what they believe is illegal activity on their streets, and talked of the smell of marijuana permeating their otherwise peaceful existence.
