The Fishbin family, of Port Washington, and the Seaman family, of Merrick, have known each other since their sons attended sleepaway summer camp together many years ago. Now they are joining together for the benefit of two organizations that are dear to their hearts: Rock and Wrap it Up! and Music Never Stops: The Tyler Seaman Foundation. On March 27, a concert at City Winery in downtown Manhattan will raise money for both organizations. more

Different paths led the three founders of The Rock Underground to one another in 2010. Paul Casanova, now a guitarist in the Brooklyn-based band Of Earth, had experience in the music industry as a performer, booking agent and instructor. Another lifelong musician, Billy Handy Jr., was a former financial manager looking to trade his Wall Street office for a more creative environment. And Steve Eplan, a mortgage broker and manager of Bellmore’s Perri Funding Group, learned from his teenaged children that local young people didn’t have anywhere to learn about and share their love of music. more

The East Meadow High School marching band made its Columbus Day Parade debut in 1992, under the direction of Bill Katz, Ken Sepe, Joel Levy and Abby Behr. The band took first place among high school groups that year, and followed that performance with 10 more first-place finishes over the next 20 years. On Oct. 14, the band not only notched its 12th overall victory, but its third in a row. more
