Seaford’s veterans will see a reduction in their school taxes beginning with the 2015-16 school year. On Dec. 4, the Seaford Board of Education voted unanimously, in four separate resolutions, to provide a partial reduction of school taxes for the 588 veterans who live in the district.

Vincent Curasi, of Wantagh, said that the two most important things in his life are his belief in God and in the American flag. Curasi, a Roman Catholic, attends Mass each morning at St. William the Abbot in Seaford, and always hangs a flag outside his home on Willow Street, where he has lived since 1954.

The last issue of the Franklin Square Elmont Herald went to press before we could report on our local Veterans Day ceremonies.
The Franklin Square VFW Post 2718 Veterans Day ceremony held at Rath Park, and the Elmont Post 1033 held their parade down Hempstead Turnpike to Veterans Square where a solemn ceremony was held.
