Sept. 19 was a great day of Irish dance, music, piping, drumming, language, soda bread, and athletics known as a feis (pronounced fesh). The Nassau County Board of the Ancient Order of Hibernians held its 38th annual AOH Feis and Festival on Long Island on the Molloy College campus.

The “City By The Sea” becomes a mecca for music lovers, beginning Thursday night, Sept. 23, when the Long Beach Jazz festival takes center stage. A world-class cadre of musicians will gather at Long Beach Public library, and other venues, for four days devoted to jazz and other forms of music-making.
