Neither TD Bank nor the Peninsula Counseling Center have been in Valley Stream for a particularly long time. But in a short time, those institutions have made significant contributions to the community, and specifically to the Valley Stream Chamber of Commerce.

The Merrick Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for what promises to be its largest Fall Festival to date. The fair is set to take place Sept. 27 to 29, and so far more than 150 chamber members, from restaurateurs to doctors, have requested booths, along with 150 crafts vendors, according to Douglas Mills, the chamber’s treasurer and the festival’s founder.

The 27th annual Bellmore Family Street Festival is set to begin on Thursday, Sept. 19. The carnival begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and will run from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The street fair, which annually attracts more than 100,000 visitors, will start on Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. Live bands will play Friday night, festival coordinator Martha Verdi said.
