A resident of Henry Street in Merrick was severely burned on Thursday morning, requiring immediate treatment at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, where the county’s burn center is located. Nassau County Police airlifted the victim by helicopter from Sunrise Highway to the hospital with assistance from Merrick Fire Department volunteers. At press time, officials declined to identify the victim, or to say how he or she was burned. more
