All Bellmore-Merrick schools to open late on Friday

Weather forecasters’ predictions of more snow arriving early Friday morning prompted Bellmore-Merrick’s five school districts –– Bellmore-Merrick, Bellmore, Merrick, North Bellmore and North Merrick –– to announce that they will delay school by two hours on Friday, Feb. 14.

At press time on Friday morning, the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District was instructing high school students to report to their Period 3 classes at 9:30 a.m. and middle school students to report to their Period 3 classes at 9:56 a.m.

Classes are set to begin at 11:10 a.m. in the Bellmore School District, 10:40 a.m. in the Merrick School District, 10:30 a.m. in the North Bellmore School District and 10:30 a.m. in the North Merrick School District. Bellmore requested that parents not drop their children off at school before 10:50 a.m., North Bellmore that they not do so before 10:17 a.m., North Merrick that they not do so before 10:15 a.m. All buses will run two hours later than usual.

The North Merrick School District announced that it would postpone kindergarten registration to a later date, which is to be announced.
