Beating the heat at the Enchanted Winterland

Nearly 500 people came out to take part in the village’s 6th Annual Enchanted Winterland celebration on Feb. 1, which raises money for the Rockville Centre Community Fund.

With this year’s theme of Margaritaville, partygoers were decked out in tropical colors and styles. Held in the Wilbur Arts building at Molloy College, people danced the night away to the live band and enjoyed the food and drinks. It was the best-attended Enchanted Winterland to date.

Jimmy Buffet tribute band Parrotbeach provided theme-appropriate music for the evening. The night also honored Chris, Lori and John Lawrence for their contributions to the village.

The event raised money for the Community Fund, a not-for-profit charity formed by former Mayor Eugene Murray in 1987 (as of press time, the exact total was not available). The Community Fund aids village residents who are faced with emergency financial needs. The fund responds quickly and confidentially to requests for assistance or to referrals by friends and neighbors of individuals facing financial difficulties.
