Crowds at Bayville Memorial Day Parade

Residents and visitors lined the streets of Bayville on Monday to enjoy the village’s annual Memorial Day parade. There was plenty to see with community groups, elected leaders, children and veterans taking part in the beloved event.

Before the parade a ceremony was held to honor veterans who died for their country in the Village Green among a field of American Flags. It was a somber event to mark the day.

Memorial Day, originally known as Decoration Day, became a federal holiday in 1971. It’s held annually on the last Monday in May to honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military.
